The University of West Florida Argonaunts won it all in 2012, and came within one win of doing it again[show_disconnected][show_to accesslevel=’Subscriber’].
Disappointment came in the form of a 2-0 loss to Grand Valley State in the NCAA Division II women’s championship game played in Evans, Ga.
It was their first loss of the season to close out the year 18-1-3. It marked the fourth time that UWF finished with one loss or less, and the third NCAA finals appearance in program history.
“Grand Valley State was a really tough opponent, obviously,” said UWF coach Joe Bartlinski. “I could ask no more out of this group and the rest of the team all year.”
Forward Sashana Campbell (Jamaica), defender Taylor Harbison (Neptune Beach, Fla.), midfielder April Syme (Canada) and Sarah Story (Hoover, Ala.) were named to the NCAA Championships All-Tournament Team. Harbison was named Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
