With the #1 overall pick in the 2016 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft, the Portland Thorns FC selected University of Virginia defender Emily Sonnett.
Forty players were selected over four rounds during the NSCAA Convention in Baltimore. Three players from Florida State were drafted in the first round. Overall, 13 players were drafted, including five in the first round.
