EDP is seeking to fill the role of Technical Director. This role will include, but may not be limited to the
following areas of focus:
1. Club and League Development to Raise Standards Across EDP footprint — Collaborate with
EDP leadership and member club leadership on creating EDP club standards to enhance the game
and improve player development.
. Club/DOC liaison. The EDP Technical Director will be very active and accessible to EDP
clubs and directors, staying in the forefront of any soccer education/administration
developments with within the bigger soccer environment
. College Liaison. Work with EDP’s college liaison officer to continue to grow EDP’s network
of college coaches for events and Pathway to College initiatives.
. US Soccer Liaison. EDP’s liaison with US Soccer on any and all developmental related
topics.
. EDP Staff Liaison. Review EDP league and tournament policies to ensure appropriate
player development foundation. Work with staff to develop membership and club
acquisition materials and strategies.
2. Coaching Education.
. Create, develop and implement an annual coaching education program designed to assist
EDP member clubs and directors with continued professional development.
. Provide EDP members with formal and informal educational opportunities via various
partnerships and collaborations. Focus on key areas that relate to improving youth soccer in
the US and what will be most beneficial to EDP Coaches and Directors.
. Form positive relationships with US Club Soccer, US Youth Soccer, US Soccer and United
Soccer Coaches educational departments.
3. Pathway to College
. Work with EDP Foundation on implementation of Pathway to College program
. Work with the EDP league administration for games on college campuses.
. Work with league and tournament staff on showcase tournaments, college presentations
and seminars.
. Be main contact for Pathway to College events and programs such as the college prep camp.
4. Player Development (PDP)
. Act as Director of the PDP program, an Olympic Development program designed to create a
pathway for EDPs most talented players. The main objectives of the program are to scout
players for US Club Soccer’s id2 program for the relevant age group and form EDP select
training and competition squads for training centers and potential games vs. other US club
PDP programs throughout the country.
. Responsible for hiring PDP program technical staff, creating a calendar of events,
communicating with clubs and directors regarding the program and educating players and
parents on the player pathway.
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR QUALIFICATIONS:
. UEFA A or B, USSF A or B, United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma or comparable
. Minimum 10 years of youth coaching and/or Director experience. College or professional
experience preferred
. Experience in working through the college recruiting process
. Inspirational, motivational and influential public speaker and presenter
. Managerial experience – ability to work within a very collegial environment
. Strong moral and ethical compass
. Event management experience
. Experience with software systems (Gmail, Microsoft Office, etc.)
